Reach your Peak staff goals

With summer just around the corner we asked some of the staff in the office what their summer goals are and how they plan on reaching their peak. From Munros to Magnums there will be a wide range of activity from us over the next few months!

Pete small isles
1. Pete, Photogrammetrist

I would like to complete my visits to all of the magical Small Isles this year. Having completed the 2 Corbetts and the Graham on wild and rugged Rum in 2011, It was time to go to the other islands. I have already visited the fascinating community owned Eigg in 2024 and the wonderful Canna in early April 2025. Now I'm looking forward to going to the smallest of the group, Muck.

I have been very fortunate to go in perfect weather to appreciate the hills and fabulous beaches. It's also really useful that we have a HARVEY Superwalker map of all the islands - when doing the hills on Rum it is essential!

Glen coe
2. Nicole, Marketing

This summer, my peak is to travel more across Scotland with my camera. Moving from India, I've been struck by the beauty of the landscapes here and want to capture them through photography.

I visited Glen Coe in late March last spring when the snow-covered mountains had just started to melt, contrasting beautifully with the deeper colours underneath. I'm planning to return soon, map in hand, to continue documenting these amazing landscapes!

Chris wild swimming
3. Chris, Production Director

A couple of years ago I was given a wetsuit for my 50th birthday and I'm ashamed to say it hasn't had very many outings. So my goal this summer is to put it to good use and swim across Loch Venacher - a beautiful loch in Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. It is not far from HARVEY HQ, and crucially, not too big!

Holly walking in Scotland
4. Holly, Cartographer

I'm very slowly ticking off all of the hills on my Southern Highlands British Mountain Map. I've done a few of the Arrochar hills but this year I'm thinking of turning my attention towards Crianlarich, specifically Ben More and Stob Binnein. I'll also be walking a section of the Wye Valley Walk - sadly there isn't a HARVEY map for it (yet!) so I'll be relying on one of our digital partners for this one.

Luke fife coastal path
5. Luke, Cartographer

I am aiming to reach my peak by completing the Fife Coastal Path. I have walked sections of the trail when surveying the map and now I want to fill in the gaps! This has been saved for the summer as I want to enjoy the long days out on the trail. As it is well connected with public transport, I am more able to be pickier as to when I walk it and wait for the sun!

There is no rush to finish this though. I want to take my time in all the fishing villages, ideally with fish 'n' chips and a mint Magnum!
